Religious Education

During our RE lessons in the first part of the term we will investigate the learning question: 'How can we care for creatures in the world?' through our understanding of the book: 'The Tiny Ants' by Gill VaiseyThe story is a re-telling of a traditional Muslim story about the Prophet Muhammad with a message that encourages children to think about the importance of caring for the natural world.

We will explore how we can care for God’s World,  noticing even the smallest creatures and understanding they are part of God’s creation.  We will learn that all living things deserve kindness and protection, understanding that gentle actions can help others, even tiny creatures.  We will recognise how our behaviour affects the world around us and realise that even the smallest creatures can have a big impact in the world.

The Tiny Ants: a Muslim Story

After half term Busy Bees will use the book 'Puddles Lends a Paw', by Gill Vaisey, to support our learning in RE this half term.  They will develop an understanding of faith, community and the significance of lending a helping hand.

Puddles Lends a Paw: Amazon.co.uk: Vaisey, Gill, Gwillym, Louise ...

As a distinctly Christian school we will become familiar with attending church, sharing daily prayers with confidence and knowing how people celebrate different religious festivals including those from other faiths.

We follow the Staffordshire Locally Agreed Syllabus, alongside Understanding Christianity and the Puddles series of books to enjoy our learning in RE.

Getting Ready for Reception

At this point in the school year our Pre-School children are getting excited about moving to Reception.
The Government recently published some new guidance for parents, highlighting ‘the personal, social, emotional and physical skills that most children will develop by the time they start school’.  The document is designed to help families and support children to get ready for Reception. You can find it here.

This 'Road map to school' demonstrates some of the key learning and skills that children should be able to do in order to prepare fully for school.
