Forest School
Forest School will be on a Tuesday afternoon. Children can come in to school wearing suitable clothing, with additional WARM, WATERPROOF LAYERS and suitable waterproof gloves too. It would be useful if children can put their own kit on so please practice self-dressing skills where possible.
During our Personal, Social and Emotional sessions, during Summer A we will explore the theme: 'Me and Other People', where we think about relationships, likes and dislikes and getting on.
In Summer B we will look at 'Me in the World'. We will think about being safe when we are out and about.
In Expressive Arts and Design we will use Oak National Academy and Twinkl to learning skills and techniques including drawing, painting, collage and sculpture.
We use Sparkyard to support delivery of Music and this term we will visit 'Sound Stories', using the themes
- Pitch play and changing sounds
- Patterns and sequences
- Meet the characters
- Perform and story
In Understanding the World we will explore the units:
Summer A:
People Who Help, including doctors and nurses, police and fire officers, dentists and engineers.
Summer B:
Out and About, including different modes of transport and learning about Summer.

Through learning about these themes we will show curiosity about the world around us. making links to make sense of the world.
We use Oak National Academy to support our learning.
During our RE lessons in the first part of the term we will investigate the learning question: 'How can we care for creatures in the world?' through our understanding of the book: 'The Tiny Ants' by Gill Vaisey. The story is a re-telling of a traditional Muslim story about the Prophet Muhammad with a message that encourages children to think about the importance of caring for the natural world.
We will explore how we can care for God’s World, noticing even the smallest creatures and understanding they are part of God’s creation. We will learn that all living things deserve kindness and protection, understanding that gentle actions can help others, even tiny creatures. We will recognise how our behaviour affects the world around us and realise that even the smallest creatures can have a big impact in the world.

After half term Busy Bees will use the book 'Puddles Lends a Paw', by Gill Vaisey, to support our learning in RE this half term. They will develop an understanding of faith, community and the significance of lending a helping hand.

As a distinctly Christian school we will become familiar with attending church, sharing daily prayers with confidence and knowing how people celebrate different religious festivals including those from other faiths.
We follow the Staffordshire Locally Agreed Syllabus, alongside Understanding Christianity and the Puddles series of books to enjoy our learning in RE.
