Collective Worship

Collective Worship

All schools are required by law to provide pupils with a daily act of collective worship regardless of whether or not they are a Church school. The difference with church schools lies in the fact that all acts of worship must be Christian. This means that they should be based on the Bible and the life and teaching of Jesus. The whole school community involves all pupils and all staff, unless they have sought the right to withdraw from acts of worship.

Here at All Saints, Collective Worship expresses the theological heart of our vision, using Christian liturgical elements, biblical stories, and opportunities for spiritual reflection.

We come together as a school or in classes daily for Collective Worship, with it being important part of togetherness as a school community. Children have opportunities to take part in and lead aspects of worship.

Whole‑school worship is inclusive, practical and engaging, shaped by our half‑termly Roots and Fruits themes which closely reflect our distinctly Christian vision and our HEARTS values. We also draw on significant religious, charitable, global and historic events throughout the year. These moments help our children to understand their place in the wider world and to recognise that they can make a difference — however small — as strong, courageous citizens who live out our guiding verse: “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength" (Philippians 4:13).

We have weekly class-based using Picture News resources.  Picture News takes a current affairs story and supports and encourages discussion, critical thinking and current affairs learning, including British Values.

Celebration Worship every Friday is an opportunity for our school to come together and celebrate children's learning and achievements in and outside of school.

Our local Vicar, Rev. John Beswick-Pallister visits school every fortnight to deliver worship to our school.  Children truly engage with his interactive Bible stories and familiar songs.  Rev. John also supports our regular church services, including Harvest, Christmas carols, Easter and our end of year service.
